We like this week's birthday list: big names, memorable scenes, and one wild coincidence.
The one and only Reese Witherspoon turns 45 on March 22, and we've made a new, two-part 1080p edit of Best Laid Plans to celebrate. The day continues with Lena Olin, whose scene in Ignition we enjoy even though (a) it's a bit short, and (b) the villain fails to make even a single bad pun while handcuffing her underneath a rocket, and with Kandyse McClure, the South African third of a damsel trio in the 2010 remake of Mother's Day.
March 23 gets a bit nuts. Joan Crawford's place in DiD history with What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) is assured, but then we've got two well-known actresses turning 45 after playing lead tied-up heroines in the same big action movie: Michelle Monaghan and Keri Russell in Mission: Impossible III. That being said, Ms. Monaghan's scenes steal the show in that movie, while Ms. Russell's scene is so brief that we didn't actually clip it. That being said, Ms. Russell has enough other scenes worth noting that we're giving her a birthday tribute of her very own!
Alyson Hannigan is celebrating on March 24, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans who are also DiD fans know what that means: it's time to watch "Normal Again," again.
March 25 is another busy day. First we have Brenda Strong, who turns up in a short-but-sweet sequence that spans a couple 2014 episodes of Dallas and features her cleave-gagged alongside Emma Bell. Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker's DiD resumé is not lengthy as compared to her overall career, but we figure she deserves a shout-out for that chair tie (along with a couple guys) in Striking Distance.
The 25th continues with Katharine McPhee, and while some may lament the lack of a gag in You May Not Kiss the Bride, we still like the scene (and also her costume). And let's hear it for Aly Michalka, whose long run on iZombie included a solid tape-gag scene in the final season.
After a quiet Friday, along comes Saturday with Elizabeth Mitchell. Let's just admit that her scenes on Lost and Revolution were mostly teases. But it's all good, because The Purge: Election Year represents a substantial upgrade that we promise to bring you shortly. Update: Promise kept!
Brenda Song joins the big weekend party, and we've got her frantic scene from Special Delivery. And what better way to end the week than with a 25th birthday for Rosabell Laurenti Sellers? While she might not yet be a household name to the extent of some of her Game of Thrones costars, her character and Indira Varma's are at the center of that show's single most notable (and absolutely gut-wrenching) DiD scene in "The Queen's Justice." We apologize if it gives you nightmares.
